High expectation often ends with great depression. ATI Radeon 7000’s graphic chip has onle one pipeline, with a 64-bit rendering power, and supported by only 32MB of DDR SDRAM! ATI Radeon 7000 runs much slower compared to today’s generation cards. I don’t say that it is just as slow as that much, it also can’t run several most anticipated games such as Unreal Tournament 2003 since its performance cant support a hardware based texture and lighting.

With the need of playing games with various level of graphic resolution, you won’t find it satisfying when it comes to playing a game with resolution above 1024 by 768 on 32-bit color and struggling hard to strike 10 fps or faster graphics. However, applications such as 3D Studio Max and other 3D digital modeling proved to run smoothly as with other value cards on the market.

The other disappointing things about it is that, first, it doesn’t seem to have a DVI-out port in case we want to play our game through a digital LCD display. Next is that it lacks of extra features usually come supporting a value card! The package contains CD software with drivers and DVD playback program and including S-Video-out cable to put your game on TV, very super standard features as in most cards at the same price. The ATI Radeon 7000’s graphic capability upon displaying complex textures, color, and contrast couldn’t keep up with that of Unreal Tournament graphic but still good with several 3D applications that we tested.
