Buttons Galore

Kensingston turbo mouse pro is basically a large trackball with many buttons as its most distinct features.

At first, you will find four fully programmable buttons surrounding the trackball and a scroll wheel button centered above the ball, which is also fully programmable. Both are designed to access several specific actions, such as standard clicking, double clicking, blocking a text, launching programs, accessing menu items as in what a conventional mouse does. Kensington has also installed a Mouse Works software for a user to assign additional functions to set a various combinations applicable to the buttons. Not to mention its capability to be set to perform numerous system-wide tasks then customize it within specified applications.

The software also allows users to adjust the speed setting to their own comfortable pace of scrolling. It can also be done for the cursor movement setting for specific applications. The same upper right button, for instance, can be set to perform a double click system wide, to perform control clicking in Microsoft word, and to perform drag in Adobe Photoshop distinctively.

Supporting the programming buttons, Kensington’s Mouse Works software gives several wide-system features, including the adjustment of mouse movement speed ranging from fast, general, and slow, and the clicking speed. The other feature is the rest reminder that will remind you of how long you have been using the mouse continuously and actively. It alerts users in order to prevent them hurting themselves from overworking.

Next thing you will find in this kensington turbo mouse is the newly introduced six semi programmable “easy launch” buttons put laid across the top of the device that are customizable through the Kensington Mouse Works Control Panel.  You can set each button to open any program, file, or web address, yourself. It is anyway works differently compared to the four main buttons in away that they can’t be programmed to perform different functionality within specific applications. Judging from what kensington turbo mouse  has, it is now becoming what a programmable input device should be. In the package you will also get beta software for Mac OS X but somehow the drivers, as for now, does not yet function with OS X 10.1, unfortunately.
