Things You Should Know About Radeon 9250


The battle of quality graphic technology is always as thrilling as in computer processor. ATI have tried to take the entry-segment on the market by launching their latest Visual Processing Unit (VPU).

Graphic card has various uses differ from the market segment. In the hig-end it has been used to serve the need of entertainment such as playing games with complex texture and graphic characteristics in its environment. Meanwhile in the entry level and middle many people functions graphic card to do a lot in finishing their office tasks, creating visual presentations, and video acceleration including to offload the CPU in the video files playback. Not to mention that several entertainment-in-office gaming done by office workers at their break time. To accommodate this, ATI have produced the latest lineup of  Radeon 9250 aiming at the entry level segment for all of those usages.

It is often said that Radeon 9250 is a DirectX 9 compliant VPU compared to the previous RADEON 9200, yet it seems to be wrong. Still it is a fact that we must not expect too much of finding new features such as in its clock speed. Compared to several cards similar we can find out several point about this ATI’s new card:

  • Compared to RADEON 9200 operating on a core lock of 250 MHz, 9250 has a reduced clock speed of 240MHz
  • Radeon 9250 frame buffering speed is similar at 400 MHz DDR
  • Radeon 9200 series’ lower priced 64-bit memory interface with a slower memory clock speed is sold in the market by name RADEON 9200 SE

Since there is only a slight difference between RADEON 9200 and RADEON 9200 SE, the argument would be that ATI have been overloaded with RV280 parts so they have to launch a new product to find a way out to get into the saturated lineups of ATI products.

What must be careful at is that the128-bit and 64-bit memory interfaces are put into the same product of Radeon 9250 that actually work with a different maximum performance. If you are about to purchase one, be sure of taking a careful look or asking the computer vendors of which you want to get into your PC.
